WaterLife is a collaboration between Biome Environmental Trust, Friends of Lakes and India Cares Foundation  to grow the awareness and provide solution, implement solutions for water scarcity, security and conservation across India

The collaboration has already implemented various projects in and around Bangalore:

  1. Cubbon Pak Rejuvenation Project – CPR, reviving 7 open traditional Wells and building 73 rain water recharge wells in Cubbon Park, Bangalore which provides 1 lakh litre of water every day, water security for the 200-acre Park
  2. Rainwater Recharge Wells (RRWs) Over 150 Rainwater Recharge Wells  in and around Bangalore made. RRWs help  recharge shallow aquifers, reduce groundwater contamination; mitigate urban flooding, water logging while increasing water table in the surronding locality
  3. Rainwater Harvesting System setup in 11 Govt. Schools in Bangalore, Bidadi and Pune to fill the gap that the regular water supply cannot fulfil  for better health and sanitation of the students
  4. Revival of Feeder Canal to Lake Canals that channel the rainwater to 4 lakes in  Kolar district have been revivied, helping almost 100 farmers to grow two crops in a year and many women of the villages get regular work & the bio diversity around the lakes have improved.

Ongoing Projects:

  • A Million Rainwater Recharge Wells for Bangalore - Since 2018 over four lakh recharge wells have been made
  • Lake Health Index - this project aims at building a tool to help know the health of a Lake/ Water body.
  • Anekal Rajakaluve Revival  - DPR to revive three Chains of canals connecting 11 lakes in Anekal district and leading the water to Dakshin Pinakini river at the Tamil Nadu Border
