Our Achievements

SNEHA works to improve the health, nutrition, and safety of women and children in Mumbai's slums.

SNEHA was founded in 1998 by Dr. Armida Fernandez, a neonatologist who witnessed the deaths of infants born into poverty and was determined to create lasting change by working directly with the communities.

SNEHA addresses preventive and promotive healthcare through programs such as:

  • Maternal and Child Health: Aims to improve health and nutrition for women and children to break the cycle of poor health.
  • Prevention of Violence Against Women and Children: Equips communities and public systems to tackle gender-based violence.
  • Public System Partnership: Facilitates a referral network to ensure timely, critical care for high-risk pregnancies.
  • Romila Palliative Care: Supports patients and families with life-limiting illnesses through outpatient and home-based care.
  • Nurse-Aide Program: Trains young women to become nurse aides in hospitals and maternity homes.
  • EHSAS Program: Helps adolescents with physical, mental, and sexual health challenges.

Impact (2016–2024):

Direct: 406,000+ women, children, and healthcare workers

Indirect: 1.68 million+ people in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and parts of Maharashtra

Run for SNEHA and join us to build a healthy and safe future for women and children in need!
